Message From President Of YRPA
"The well-being of our members is directly linked to the well-being of their families. When our members know their loved ones are supported and cared for, they can perform their duties with enhanced focus, resilience, and peace of mind. This is why it is crucial for us, as a police association, to provide comprehensive support services not just to our members but also their families.
We are dedicated to ensuring that the families of our members have access to resources that promote their mental, emotional, and physical well-being through our YRPA Family Wellness".
A Message From The Family Mental Health Clinician & Wellness Coordinator
"Supporting families has always been at the heart of YRPA Family Wellness. Every family’s experience with policing and YRP is unique, and while the profession can bring pride, purpose, and connection, it can also bring challenges that affect everyday family life in ways that are not always seen or spoken about.
My hope for YRPA Family Wellness is to create a space where families feel welcomed, understood, and supported without judgment. A space where families can access meaningful resources, build connections with others who understand policing life, and learn practical strategies that support overall wellness and resilience.
YRPA Family Wellness was created with the understanding that caring for the well-being of members also means caring for the people who support them at home. Through 1:1 counselling, workshops, wellness resources, peer connection opportunities, family events, and service navigation support, our goal is to help families strengthen communication, connection, balance, and overall well-being together.
Whether you are navigating the early stages of policing life, supporting a loved one through stressful or difficult experiences, balancing family responsibilities, addressing your own well-being or simply looking for ways to strengthen wellness within your home, please know that support is available and you are not alone in the journey.
Thank you for taking the time to visit YRPA Family Wellness. I look forward to continuing to support and walk alongside our families through every stage of your YRP journey. "
Josie Rose, YRPA Family Mental Health Clinician & Wellness Coordinator

A Message From Family Wellness
Welcome to Family Wellness.
In 2023, the York Regional Police (YRP), the YRP Wellness Unit, and the York Regional Police Association (YRPA) recognized that it was not only police and YRP members who may need support throughout the policing journey and career at YRP, but their families as well. In their shared commitment to supporting the well-being of both members and their loved ones, the YRP and YRPA created Family Wellness.
YRPA Family Wellness was developed to help support the overall well-being of family members by promoting mental, physical, and social wellness through mental wellness support, family-focused programs, resources, education, and connection opportunities.
Led by the Family Mental Health Clinician & Wellness Coordinator, YRPA Family Wellness is located within the Wellness Unit office. While Family Wellness expands the support available through the Wellness Centre for its members, it operates as a YRPA supported entity dedicated to supporting families.
We understand that being a part of the policing world can impact on the whole family. Shift work, operational stress, critical incidents, changing schedules, and the demands of the profession can affect relationships, routines, emotional wellness, and family life in many ways. YRPA Family Wellness exists to help families feel supported, connected, informed, and less alone throughout these experiences.
Through wellness programs, workshops, family events, peer connection opportunities, resources, and service navigation support, Family Wellness aims to create a welcoming and compassionate space where families can build resilience, strengthen connections, and support overall well-being together.
Whether your family is new to policing life or navigating years of service, YRPA Family Wellness is here to walk alongside you through every stage of the journey.
